The tidal waves that struck Ahangama tore apart the seaside village which was home to this family. The towering waves wiped out everything in its path, mercilessly wrenched the family out of their house they were living in and washed them almost a kilometre inland. Miraculously, the mother succeeded to save two children but the father who was ill at the time lost his life. She and her children are now in a helpless state living in a tent.
